Simtel.Net is an excellent way for authors to distribute their programs
on the Internet. The MS-DOS, MS-Windows, and Windows 95/98 collections
are mirrored by sites all over the world, providing distribution to
millions of users on the net.

All files submitted to Simtel.Net are scanned for viruses and trojans,
and are reviewed by professional archivists. Authors receive prompt
personal attention in the processing and announcing of their uploads

Simtel.Net does not publish instructions for uploading files because
we prefer to coordinate uploads by having contributors contact us first
so we can check to make sure the program is not already in the archive.

File uploads are accepted via FTP.

Simtel.Net reserves the right to refuse or remove any file, for any
reason, at any time.

Authors (or authors' sole authorized agents) please use the Simtel.Net
upload instructions request form to enter a short description of the
files you wish to submit. Anonymous uploads are not accepted. Your
full name (no aliases) must be included.

The Simtel.Net collections are periodically published on CD-ROM. If
you do not wish to have your package distributed on CD-ROM please
do not upload it.

No Adult Material: Simtel.Net is a family-oriented service, and we
require that all graphic images, sound and text (in screen savers,
themes, programs, documentation, etc.), be appropriate for all age
groups, to include children.

Win95/98 desktop themes are not accepted. Unique or innovative
screen savers (which are more than displayers of internal images)
and screen saver-creating tools may be accepted.

Simtel.Net does not consider Adware the same thing as Freeware. We
expect full disclosure of all Adware to us to and users in upload
announcements and program documentation. We encourage authors to
include a privacy statement in their program documentation (available
before installation) that clearly spells out any privacy issues users
may have (e.g., what information is being transmitted, what is being
done with that information, etc.). Authors must state that their
Adware has no components that continue to run when their application
is not running. Authors must also insure any Adware components are
correctly removed when their program is removed.

Games are not accepted unless they are strictly educational.

Programs that stop working after a fixed calendar date, for example
December 10, 2001, must clearly indicate this in the description
and documentation.

Management policy does not allow us to accept lotto, lottery or
gambling-oriented programs.

We cannot accept any program that encrypts or decrypts using a
method that may be subject to U.S. export restrictions. In your
request to upload you must specifically state the type of encryption
used and that it complies with U.S. export restrictions. Recent
changes in U.S. Department of Commerce regulations easing export of
cryptological software have NOT removed all restrictions. At
minimum a "one-time product review" is still required. See
http://www.bxa.doc.gov/Encryption/ for details.

Simtel.Net does not have OS/2 collections. However,
we will be increasing the scope of this archive in the very near future.

Thanks to those who actively support Simtel.Net by helping us to keep
up to date with the latest programs.
