Minutes of the Service Location Protocol Working Group (svrloc)
We made significant progress in narrowing the scope of this Working
Group and the protocol that we are trying to design.
We arrived at the decision to limit the scope of this Group to an
administrative domain that we defined as an area which is equivalent to
the area served by a binding broker (a central site to manage the
service topology of the area). Outside of that area the scaling and
naming issues are left to the directory services in place.
Scott Kaplan from FTP Software and John Veizades from Apple will be
working on an architectural document for presentation to the Working
Group list by the next meeting. Scott Bradnor from Harvard and Greg
Bruell from Shiva offered to comment on preliminary versions of the
document.
Scott and John met after the meeting and made significant progress on
the architecture.
