Oslo 1999

Chair: Mike Sneed Mike.Sneed@Pulse.com
Co-chair/minute taker: Dave Allan dallan@nortelnetworks.com
Meeting convened at 3:30 p.m. Monday July 12th

MIB Report/Mike Sneed:

Current I-D is now to proposed standard and in the RFC editors queue.
Action: Gigi Kharmous-Edwards to e-mail Bert Wijnen on accelerating the RFC to align with an ADSL forum vote (WT-037v2).

Supplemental objects MIB/Faye Ly

Added:
ATU-C transmission capability
Fast retrain parameters
Errored seconds count plus fast retrain count
Line mode
Configuration of trap thresholds for new counters

Issues:
Clarify block definition/CLOSED: ITU adopted our definition
Clarify low power state rate
Bits type variable for line status
Don't want to revise the object in the proposed MIB
Recommendation (to the list) define a disjoint set of bits and document why they must be disjoint
Transmission mode type
Enum or BITs to be taken to the mailing list
Not clear if negotiable or explicitly configured at the ATU-C
Unavailable seconds vs. fast retrain seconds and fast retrain failed seconds
Don't want traps kicked off by normal phone usage
Power management, config or policy required
Curr 15 sec description, current power state is required on ATU-C
G.HS (G.994.1)
Mode is negotiable (light, heavy or dual mode)
Dual is the problem, requires two service profiles (interleaver depth etc.)
Suggestion, supplemental MIB includes a lite profile.
Issue: when negotiating, who wins
ADSLF Liaison
Add ATU-C and ATU-R low power rates
ITU needs the value defined, and a clarification is solicited

Implementation experience
want to deprecate unused stuff in the MIB
known implementers are Coppercom and Pulsecom (others to be found)
cannot currently support ATU-R side
not designed for VoDSL

CPE-Mgmt Draft
Randy Turner was a no-show, not presented

Meeting adjourned early.
