       draft-ietf-dhc-ipv4-autoconfig-05.txt and draft-cheshire-ipv4-linklocal-00.txt
Received: Via courier letter, August 3, 2000 (original on file with the IETF Secretariat)
From: Michele Herman, Senior Corporate Attorney, Microsoft Corporation

Dear IETF Secretariat,

This is to advise the IETF that Microsoft has been granted U.S. Patent No. 6,101,499
(the "'499 patent") and believes that the '499 patent relates to technologies discussed in
Internet Draft documents "draft-ietf-dhc-ipv4-autoconfig-05.txt" and
"draft-cheshire-ipv4-linklocal-00.txt."

To the extent that the technology discussed in these Internet Drafts becomes an IETF
Standard and the '499 patent is required to implement the IETF Standard, Microsoft will
grant a royalty-free license with other reasonable and non-discriminatory terms and
conditions for the purpose of implementing the IETF Standard, provided a reciprocal
license is granted to Microsoft and other parties under any patents or pending
applications that the licensee has to any technology required to implement that IETF
Standard.

Any questions regarding this communication should be directed to:
